Siri is coming to Mac this year

Apple has added its digital personal assistant onto everything from iPhones to Apple TV 2015.

But the company has yet to launch Siri on its Mac operating system, OS X, leaving many wonderng if and when the feature would appear on their computers.

Now, sources at Apple have confirmed the Cupertino-based firm is almost ready to introduce a Mac version of Siri, according to a report from 9 to 5 Mac.

It’s thought that Apple will launch the next version of the OS, OS X 10.12, at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

Siri is expected to be included on the new version.

According to the report, Siri will have an icon in the Mac’s Menu Bar, in the same way as the Spotlight search feature.

Clicking the icon will bring up a ‘dark transparent Siri interface’ in the top right corner of the screen.

Users will then be able to use voice recognition to instruct Siri as coloured sound waves visualise the voice input.

The report states that this design may change before the final version is released, however.

As well as the Menu Bar icon, Siri will have a pane in System Preferences and users can choose to use a keyboard shortcut to activate the feature.

As with recent iPhone and iPad models, users can also use the ‘Hey Siri’ command when their Mac is plugged into a power outlet.

Apple has been testing Siri for Mac since 2012, but if the report is accurate, the wait could be over.
