Sims 4 system requirements announced ahead of September release

EA has announced the minimum Sims 4 system requirements, with the PC release to be relatively light on machines when it lands this September.

A long stretch from the high-end requirements of other EA PC releases – such as last year’s FPS epic Battlefield 4 – the Sims 4 should be accessible to most casual PC gamers.

Top line requirements for the latest Sims title include a 1.8GHz dual-core processor and at least 2GB of RAM. On top of this, a DirectX 9 graphics card, 128MB of Video RAM and 9GB of available hard drive space are necessary in order for the game to run.

The full list of Sims 4 minimum system requirements are:

  • OS: Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1), Windows 8, or Windows 8.1
  • Processor: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core 4000 or equivalent (For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.0 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-62 or equivalent)
  • Memory: At least 2 GB RAM
  • Hard Drive: At least 9 GB of free space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content and saved games
  • DVD-ROM: DVD ROM drive required for installation only
  • Video Card: 128 MB of Video RAM and support for Pixel Shader 3.0. Supported Video Cards: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or better, ATI Radeon X1300 or better, Intel GMA X4500 or better
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
  • DIRECTX: DirectX 9.0c compatible
  • Input: Keyboard and Mouse

These are of course minimum system requirements and are the very base level needed to make the game run. If you’re hoping to see some Sims action at its best, you will have to wait for EA to confirm the recommended system requirements later this year.

With new Sims 4 details continuing to drip out on a near weekly basis, EA has confirmed that the Sims 4 release date will be held on September 5.
