SensoTRACK is a wearable health and activity monitor

Fitness wearables are nothing new, but this one has a unique design. It clips behind your ear to measure how hard you’re working.

Because it sits close to the temporal artery, the makers claim it’s more accurate than wrist-worn fitness trackers. They say it’s as accurate as vital sign monitoring devices approved by the FDA (the US Food and Drug Administration).

It also measures more than your standard fitness tracker. It measures your heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and respiration rate, how many steps you’ve taken, calories burned, your speed, activity level, geolocation, altitude, pace, and even your posture.

It’s exhausting just going through them all.

You enter parameters like your weight, body mass index (BMI), blood sugar and emotional state. It can also take into account what kind of activity you’re doing, whether it’s walking, running, cycling or something else.

You can choose to either record your workout data in real time, or you can set a goal and work towards it. As with other fitness apps, you can share your achievements with friends for the ultimate in oneupmanship.

It will gee you on with feedback during your workout too, which is another advantage of wearing it behind your ear. For example, take a break from your run, and it’ll say: “Do not stop, route has not yet been completed.” While you lie gasping for breath by the side of the road. Get to the end of your run, and it’ll say: “Destination reached. Good work today.” Leaving you free to collapse by the side of the road.

It’s raised just over $13,000 on crowdfunding site Kickstarter, with a target of $250,000. There are still 50 days to go.
