SenCbuds pause the music when they’re taken out of your ears

If you’re listening to music on your phone and want to pause it, you have to either press pause on the screen or on the cord-mounted controls, right? Well now there’s another way.

SenCbuds are the world’s first headphones that pause the music when you take them out of your ears. So no more reaching for your phone or the controls when someone wants to talk to you. Just take them out and the music pauses. Then when you pop them back in, it picks up where it left off.

Clever, eh?

They use something called Smart Sense Technology. Basically, a sensor inside the earbud is used to trigger audio cues. Put them in your ears, and it starts playback. Take them out, and the sensor stops the music.

Of course you can use manual controls if you like. The remote component doubles as a cable holder too, so you can wrap up the cord and stop getting it tangled.

The SenCbuds Plus model also features a do not disturb function – this is basically a red LED that’s supposed to let everyone you know you’re listening intently in the hope they won’t bother you. Though we can’t see that working.

It’s raised $10,000 of a $30,000 goal and still has 57 days to go. If you want a pair, pledge $45 (£31) on an early bird. They should ship in May.
