Second-gen Moto E with 4G LTE tipped in new leak

Motorola could be about to announce a 4G LTE enabled version of its celebrated Moto E budget handset, according to leaks on Monday.

The image obtained by Android Police shows the rear of new device, emblazoned with the branding of U.S. network Verizon Wireless, along with the carrier’s 4G LTE graphic.

The current version of the handset, which allows users to enjoy a better-than-class Android experience, has been a big hit, but can only support 3G networks..

The timing of the leak is interesting, given Motorola’s plans to make an announcement on Tuesday, February 24.

Late last week we reported the Lenovo-owned company is delivering a mystery box to the American tech press containing whatever that announcement happens to be.

Could a next-gen Moto E be in Moto’s secret box? If so, will the device be limited to Verizon or can everyone get in on the action?

The original Moto E sits below the Moto G as the company’s super budget handset. It earned an 8/10 review score from TrustedReviews last September for its class-leading screen, bargain price and access to the latest Android updates.

The device was marked down for its low-end CPU, poor camera and limited built-in storage, but considering its £80 price tag there was very little to complain about.

Can a next-generation handset with 4G and a boosted spec sheet offer budget shoppers even more value for money?
