Satoru Iwata to be honored with Lifetime Achievement prize at this year’s DICE Awards
Late Nintendo President Satoru Iwata will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement prize at the 19th Annual DICE Awards.
The award ceremony is set to take place next month during the annual DICE Summit, and this year they plan to honour former Nintendo President Satoru Iwata.
Satoru Iwata, who sadly passed away in July 2015, will be the posthumous recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
The legendary Nintendo President passed away at the age of 55 due to complications with a tumor, having served as the company lead for 13 years.
Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima is also being honored, as he is inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Other award categories include Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Art Design and Best Handheld Game.
Bloodborne, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Fallout 4, Ori and the Blind Forest and Rise of The Tomb Raider are nominated for Game of the Year.
Dragon Age: Inquisition took home the gold last year, beating the likes of Far Cry 4 and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.
