Samsung unveils new Wireless Audio 360 speaker range

Samsung has announced three new Wireless Audio 360 speakers – the R5, R3 and R1.
All three speakers feature an omni-directional design (hence the 360 label) that promise room-filling sound. They also add a new built-in tap-and-swipe user interface that lets you change the volume, play, pause, or select a different music source easily on the devices themselves.
Samsung has also improved its Multiroom app for Android and iOS, which makes it easier to push music from your phone to the speakers wherever you are in the home. It also lets you assemble playlists.
Interestingly, Samsung points out that this improved Multiroom app now works directly with the Samsung Gear S (no smartphone required), and will also work with the Samsung Gear S2 when it’s properly announced at IFA.
As the naming scheme suggests, these three speakers follow on from Samsung’s previous, higher-end efforts in the R7 and R6.
Despite entering the market at a lower level, the R5, R3, and R1 will utilise the same proprietary ring-radiator technology as their older brothers. This means that sound is distributed evenly throughout a room

Samsung reveals that all three speakers will be on display at IFA 2015 which takes place from September 4.
The Samsung Wireless Audio 360 R5, R3, and R1 will be available in the US and Europe in the last quarter of 2015. Prices will range from $199 to $399, which works out to between £127 and £254 – though they’ll inevitably cost a good chunk more in the UK.
