Samsung unveils the best-looking Galaxy Note 8 yet, but you can’t buy it
Samsung has unveiled a new colour variant for the Galaxy Note 8 smartphone to commemorate the 2018 Winter Olympics, which begins next month.
The limited edition handset has a glossy white rear casing, while the matching S Pen stylus has gold accents.
It comes with specialised apps, wallpapers and the famous Olympic Rings emblazoned in gold on the back of the device.
Unfortunately, the company isn’t putting them up for sale.
Instead, they’ll be handed out to Winter Olympians, Paralympians and the staff at International Olympic Committee and other organisers.
Boo and hiss. Samsung said the release marks 20-years as an Olympic partner, while spouting some other guff about helping to spead the Olympic Spirit.
Same phone, new paint job
The device brings all of the top level features associated with the retail device. It has the same 6.3-inch HDR-enalbed display with the Snapdragon 835 processor (or Exynos 8895) doing the heavy lifting.
It has 6GB RAM and the 3300mAh battery benefits from fast and wireless charging.

In our review, updated this week, we gave the Note 8 a near-perfect 9/10 score.
We praised the stunning design and build, the great screen and the implementation of the stylus. We also lauded the handset for its superb cameras.
Unfortunately, if you want this Winter Olympics edition, you’re going to have to scour the secondary market and pay over the odds when someone inevitably tries to cash in.
