Samsung “stands behind” Galaxy S7 Active waterproof rating

Samsung says it “stands behind” its Galaxy S7 Active’s IP68 rating, after a review found the phone unable to live up to its water-proofing claims.
Last week, a Consumer Reports review found that two devices stopped working when placed in a tank that simulated depths of 5ft of water.
At the time, Samsung said the particular devices used for the test may have been defective and “not as watertight as it should be.”

Now, the firm – which advertises the device as IP68 water-resistant to depths of 1.5m (5ft) – has issued a statement to say it will replace any phones that suffer water damage.
The statement reads: “The Galaxy S7 Active passed rigorous tests to ensure IP68 certification for water-resistance.
“Samsung stands behind this water-resistance certification, and will replace any Galaxy S7 active under its standard limited warranty, should water damage occur.”
Both those phones have the same IP68 rating as the Active.
