Samsung SE790C ups curved monitor game with 34” display

Samsung has just launched the SE790C, which it’s dubbing as its ‘most advanced curved monitor yet.’

The bent screen is Samsung’s largest curved computer monitor so far, measuring in at 34-inches corner-to-corner.

The South Korean firm launched a smaller 27-inch monitor – the S27D590C – earlier this year, and it seems Samsung is still keen to woo PC users with beefed up displays.

With a curvature radius of 3000m, the SE790C’s brings a ‘noticeably different viewing experience’ from your standard flat-screen tube.

According to Samsung, the fact that the screen is curved makes it much more in sync with ‘the natural curve of a viewer’s eyes.’

This apparently leads to a distortion-free viewing experience, and should theoretically reduce eye-strain and improve comfort.

“Samsung’s SE790C display offers an industry-leading and award-winning curved screen for the most amazing viewing experience,” said Graham Long, VP of Enterprise Business at Samsung UK.

“Its superior picture quality, productivity and entertainment-enhancing features combined with its design means Samsung’s latest curved monitor truly pushes the limits of what a display can deliver.”

In terms of display specs, you’re looking at an Ultra-WQHD resolution of 3440 x 1440, with an aspect ratio of 21:9.

The monitor also boasts a ‘best-in-class’ static contrast ratio of 3000:1 – that’s the ratio that differentiates between both the brightest and darkest colours the monitor can display at the same time, at any given instant.

Samsung has also talked up the monitor’s response time as being just four milliseconds, which should mean reduced motion blur – great stuff for gamers.

It also comes with built-in 7W dual stereo speakers.

Finally, for the connectivity-enthusiasts, Samsung has included four USB 3.0 super-charging ports.

We’re not sure when Samsung will be selling its device, or for how much, but we’ll keep you posted as we find out more.
