Samsung’s 2016 SUHD TVs land in the UK

Samsung is now selling its latest line-up of top-end televisions in the UK, just in time for the summer sport season.
There are six televisions in the 2016 SUHD range: the KS9800, KS9500, KS9000, KS8000, KS7500, and the KS7000. All of them feature Quantum dot displays, and all of them are Ultra HD Premium certified. That means they’ve met stringent quality requirements based on factors like brightness, colour, contrast, and resolution. Huzzah!
What’s more, all six televisions ship with HDR 1000 technology, which means they support High Dynamic Range content. Both Netflix and Amazon already offer HDR videos, so Samsung’s new TVs will be able to take advantage of the super-white whites and super-black blacks that HDR offers.
The TVs come in a range of sizes, and start at £1,299. Also note that the KS9000 is a curved TV, which Samsung claims is the “world’s first bezel-less curved TV”.

We reviewed the 55-inch KS9000 – priced at £2,099 – earlier this year, and scored it 8/10. Our reviewer praised the TV’s “bright, dynamic, and colourful HDR pictures” and improved smart interface.

In a statement, Robert King, VP of Consumer Electronics at Samsung UK, said:
“At Samsung, we are committed to offering our customers the best possible entertainment experience. Our 2016 line-up of SUHD TVs delivers on this promise, offering outstanding picture quality, an intuitive user experience and Smart Hub integration. We’re delighted to be bringing the range to our UK and Ireland customers and providing an immersive viewing experience to more homes across the country.”
Samsung says that a number of UK retailers are now selling the 2016 SUHD TV line-up in-store and online, including Currys and John Lewis.
It’s also worth noting that just last month, Samsung started selling its first-ever Ultra HD Blu-ray Player in the UK. The movie industry is expecting to release over 100 UHD movies in 2016 alone.
