Samsung reveals Notebook 9 Pen and refreshed laptop line up ahead of CES 2018

Samsung is looking to have a strong laptop line up come 2018, having revealed the new Notebook 9 Pen and refreshed versions of its Notebook 9 laptops in time for CES.

The Notebook 9 Pen is a 2-in-1 Windows 10 machine that can be used as a traditional laptop or folded back on itself to create a tablet or propped up display for use with the S Pen, Samsung’s take on the stylus.

A magnesium aluminium chassis keeps the laptop light at 995kg, yet it still packs in a 13.3-inch full HD display and Intel’s eighth-generation Core i7 processor matched with up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 512GB of NVMe SSD storage.

And connectivity comes in the form of USB Type-C, USB 3.0, and HDMI ports, with a microSD slot and 3.5mm headphone jack added in for good measure.

There’s no word on pricing, but the Notebook 9 Pen will be available this month in Korea and will launch in other select countries in the first quarter of 2018.

As for the Notebook 9 laptops, both the 13.3-inch and 15-inch models have been given access to the eighth-generation Core i7 processor and can be configured to to have up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and !TB of NVMe SSD storage.

The 15-inch model can be specced with Nvidia’s 2GB GeForce MX150 GPU to give the laptop a hike in pixel pushing performance.

Both the new Notebook 9 models use a Metal12 chassis which Samsung claims make them more durable that their predecessors but keeps them lightweight and portable.

Again no pricing was announced, but the new Notebook 9 laptops will launch at the same time and places as the Notebook 9 Pen.
