Samsung reportedly plotting January launch for foldable phone

Having finally taken notice of its detractors, Samsung has had an uncharacteristically impressive year in terms of design. As well as the great-looking Samsung Galaxy S6, it’s also produced a pair of phones with dual-edge curved displays and a very attractive smartwatch.

Now it looks like the company is set to unveil a smartphone with a foldable display in the New Year.

According to SamMobile, somebody with in-depth knowledge of the phone – dubbed Project Valley – has claimed it will be officially launched in January.

It’s allegedly being tested in two hardware configurations. One is said to be rocking the Snapdragon 820 chip, while the other is loaded with the Snapdragon 620.

The test models are also believed to feature 3GB of RAM, as well as a microSD card slot and a non-removable battery.

Along with LG, Samsung has long been rumoured to be working on a flexible smartphone – although we’ve only ever seen concept models so far.

Whether or not Samsung intends to make the Project Valley smartphone available to consumers is as yet unknown. However, we’re sure that plenty more rumours are sure to surface between now and January.
