Pleasant surprise in store for all.
We received a release date for the Samsung Q1 Ultra last week, but now it is officially here and comes with a highly pleasant surprise: the price tag.
Despite being the most advanced UMPC to date Sammy has revealed that Yanks (at least) will be able to get their mitts on the device from just $799 (under £400). This can be spruced up until the cost is nearly double at $1,499 but in truth it still makes for the most appealing entry into the sub-notebook market to date.
By contrast the original Q1 set punters back a monstrous $1,300 on launch and could be stretched all the way to $2,000. In something that no doubt has the marketing men high fiving (and left the rest of us blank faced), the Q1 also launched on the same day exactly one year ago.
Unfortunately, back in Blightly we’ve still yet to be given our official launch date, but let’s hope when we do that Sammy is prepared to play just as nicely with us when it does…
