Samsung NX300 camera announced with one-lens 3D system
Samsung has released the Samsung NX300, with the flagship NX series model launching with an innovative one-lens 3D system.
Officially unveiled at CES 2013, the Samsung NX300 boasts a modern 20.3-megapixel CMOS image sensor and the updated Samsung Smart Camera 2.0 Hub all within a retro-feel body.
“Our aim with the NX300 was to develop the best camera ever made for the everyday camera user, and by combining superior hardware with enhanced features designed exclusively for professional photographers, we believe we have done just that,” said Head of Digital Imaging at Samsung UK and Ireland, Nick Porter. “Our NX range has been extremely well received since it first launched and this latest model is a worthy successor to the original.”
Samsung NX300 Features
The Samsung NX300 features the world’s first one-lens 3D system, making it capable of capturing still and moving images in full HD and in 3D. The new Samsung NX 45mm F1.8 2D/3D lens was launched alongside the Samsung NX300, but doesn’t come bundled as standard with the flagship camera. Instead, the Samsung NX300 is offered with a 20-50mm lens within the RRP.
Offering a 20.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor, the Samsung NX300 can deliver high-quality photographs with crisp and sharp colours. The high-speed Hybrid Auto Focus system alongside a 1/6000sec shutter speed and 8.6fps continuous shooting mode means that users of the Samsung NX300 will have no excuse to miss a vital shot or suffer from blurred, out-of-focus snaps.
Users can view and edit their photographs via the 3.31-inch AMOLED hybrid touchscreen that tilts to offer a variety of shooting angles, coupled with a 5-way key interface. Sporting the new Samsung Smart Camera 2.0 hub, the Samsung NX300 has Wi-Fi connectivity, compatibility with the Smart Camera App for Android and iOS devices and the ability to share user’s footage between devices, desktops and the camera itself.
The Smart modes within the Samsung NX300 provides 14 different scene selectors, including Creative Shot, Landscape, Action Freeze or Light Trace, each automatically adjusting shutter speeds or aperture settings to achieve the best possible shot in the specified locale.

The Samsung NX300 release date has been set for the end of this month, with the flagship NX model retailing for £599 with the 20-50mm lens. The Samsung NX 45mm F1.8 2D/3D lens will cost you around £320 on top of the basic package.
