Samsung May Well Have Leaked the Galaxy Note 2

Samsung may well have leaked the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 ahead of what’s widely predicted to be its official unveiling on August 29.

It’s a rather odd one this. The image to the right was first unveiled earlier in the year, but was believed at the time to be the Samsung Galaxy S3.

As we now know, the Galaxy S3 looks rather different, suggesting that this image may have been a fake.

However, it’s now reappeared – and on an official Samsung Facebook page at that. Samsung Pakistan posted the picture along with the confusing words: ”Picture perfect view made even more perfect with Samsung Galaxy S3.”

You’d think that such an error would be corrected, and so it was – but not before another potentially significant twist in the tale. Just prior to withdrawing the image, someone on the Samsung team corrected the text to read “Galaxy Note.”

So, is this the Samsung Galaxy Note 2? It certainly appears to fit the description as outlined by numerous rumoured specs. That large, almost too-sharp Super AMOLED screen is certainly how we’d expect a 5.5-inch HD display to look. It would have to be edge to edge in order to remain the slightest bit pocketable.

In addition to this display, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 could well boast an improved quad-core Exynos chip and a 12-megapixel camera.

We’ll know more come the end of the month when IFA 2012 comes around.
