Samsung Launches Series 7 Slate

Check out our comprehensive preview of the Samsung Series 7 Slate here

IFA, Berlin: Samsung has decided that an 11.6in
tablet with a digital stylus, Windows 7 and a Intel Core i5 processor is just
what is missing from the tablet market.

The Samsung Series 7 Slate PC 700T (to give it its full name), launched today, is a tablet that wants to be a
laptop. Not only do you get the 11.6in Slate to carry around, when you want to
do some serious work, Samsung has provided a dock and keyboard.

The tablet itself measures 12.9mm thick and weighs in at a
hefty 970g, but considering the amount of tech inside, we’re not that
surprised. Samsung is promising a 6.6 hour battery life, but we’ll wait to test
it fully before believing that.

Inside, as well as the Core i5 processor, you’ll find Intel integrated
graphics, 4GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD. As well as the tablet itself, Samsung will
provide a Bluetooth keyboard, dock cradle and that all-important stylus. Unfortunately there isn’t a slot on the tablet to house the stylus when not in use.

Of course the other differentiating feature of this tablet
is the presence of Windows 7, which, although not touch-enabled, with the presence
of the active-digitizer stylus, should make the experience of using it on a tablet a lot easier.
