Samsung’s Gear VR headset is now available in the UK
If you’re ready to hop on the virtual reality bandwagon, Samsung has got you covered.
The Samsung Gear VR is now available for purchase in the United Kingdom.
The consumer edition of the Gear VR headset went on sale in the US last month, with the UK tipped to follow suit.
Would-be customers can purchase the headset from Samsung for £80 – a little pricier than the $99 US version.
While a few VR headsets are already available for purchase, the Gear VR is one of the first mainstream peripherals to launch.
We’re expecting a number of top-bill headsets to arrive in the near future, including Sony’s Playstation VR, the Oculus Rift, and Valve’s HTC Vive.
To use the new headset, you’ll need one of the following handsets:
- Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (not available in UK)
- Samsung Galaxy S6
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

Gear VR features include a 96-degree field of view, and a foam-cushioned facepad. Content for the headset is available through the Oculus store.
Samsung is the only retailer stocking the Gear VR right now, but O2 will also be carrying the headset from early 2016.
