Samsung finally reveals Gear S3 UK release date

Samsung has confirmed release date details for its Gear S3 smartwatch. Here’s when you’ll be able to buy it in the UK and other regions.

The company has announced that the Gear S3, which is available in two models and was revealed at IFA 2016, is available in its native South Korea from today (November 11) ahead of a wider global rollout.

The UK, US, Australia, France, Germany, Dubai and Singapore will start getting the watch in a week’s time on Friday November 18, the firm said.

The Gear S3 comes in two variants – there’s the ruggedised and LTE-equipped Fronteir model, and a more stripped back Classic edition.

Key features of the Gear S3 include IP68 certification, Samsung Pay integration, GPS, and the usual array of health and fitness tracking sensors.

Samsung no doubt hopes releasing the Gear S3 in time for the holiday season will help it put the exploding Galaxy Note 7 saga behind it as the firm looks ahead to 2018 and the launch of its next flagship phone, the Galaxy S8.

Both versions of the Gear S3 cost £349.99 in the UK and can be ordered via Samsung’s website, though the devices were affected by supply issues during the pre-order period.
