Samsung Gear 360 camera to be unveiled alongside Galaxy S7?

Samsung may be planning to reveal its rumoured 360-degree camera alongside the Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphones next month.
According to SamMobile sources, the Korean giant is planning to unwrap a camera called the Gear 360 during its Unpacked event now confirmed for February 21.
The report says the device will feature two fish-eye lenses capable of capturing 180 or 360 degree footage.
Such a device, which has been rumoured under the Samsung Project Beyond platform, would help Samsung build up the video library for its Gear VR headset.
In terms of the resolution, the rumoured camera would offer a maximum resolution of 3840 x 1920 when both lenses are in use.

The device will also open the possibility of streaming to a connected smartphone, making it possible for viewers to watch live footage in VR, via the Gear VR headset.
If Samsung is able to lower the price barrier to creating 360-degree video, as it did with the headset hardware then this could be a major boost for the sector.
SamMobile has no information on the potential price point, but given the company’s history, an aggressive tag seems relatively likely.
We’re now less than 3 weeks away from Samsung’s announcement, so there isn’t long to wait until we find out.
