Samsung Galaxy S7 Active drops – will probably survive unscathed
Samsung has finally announced the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active after numerous leaks and rumours.
The new ruggedised flagship phone has had to stand up to a lot of internet chatter and outright abuse in recent months, as leaked images of the phone have attracted a fair amount of scorn.
Now Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S7 Active as an AT&T exclusive (for now) in the US. Suffice to say, it’s not as pretty as the Samsung Galaxy S7.
It might be ugly, but the S7 Active isn’t here to win any beauty contests. It’s built to take a pounding, with a shatter-resistant 5.1-inch screen, a water-resistant case, and rugged physical buttons in place of the S7’s capacitive back and multitasking keys.
As a result, it’s 30g heavier and 2mm thicker than the regular S7.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active has a couple of notable additions over the standard model. First and foremost, it comes with a much bigger 4,000 mAh battery. The Galaxy S7 only has a 3,000 mAh cell.

Also, the rugged model comes with an extra function button on the side, which can be set up to launch an app of your choosing.
Besides this, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active sports identical specs to the mainstream model. That includes a Snapdragon 820 CPU (which the US model of the S7 also has), 4GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel camera, and 32GB of storage.
