Last week several reliable sources suggested that Samsung would be launching its next flagship phone on March 14, with everything pointing to a New York-based special event.
Over on Korean news site Edaily, Samsung chief JK Shin confirmed that this was indeed the case.
Perhaps most notable is the choice of New York for the launch event, as it will be the first flagship Samsung smartphone to launch in the US since the original Samsung Galaxy S in 2010. If there was any doubt that Samsung was taking the fight to Apple, it’s surely been dispelled now.
It’s been suggested that the focus for the new Samsung Galaxy S4 flagship will be on innovative software features rather than trail-blazing hardware specifications. There’ll be a bigger jump in such new features than with previous Galaxy S device.
Still, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is unlikely to arrive to market underpowered. It’s widely accepted that the phone will come with a 5-inch Full HD display, a quad-core Exynos 5440 CPU and 2GB of RAM.
