Samsung Galaxy S4 Active mini rumoured

New rumours suggest that a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active mini launch is on the horizon.

A device called the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active mini with the model number GT-I8580 has popped up in GFXBenchmarks.

The Galaxy S4 Active is a waterproof and dustproof version of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S4 and the two devices have very similar specs.

However, it seems Samsung will now introduce smaller version of the S4 Active, rather than a waterproof and dustproof Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.

According to the GFXBenchmarks, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active mini will have a 4.65-inch display with a 800 x 480p resolution.

It should also have a dual-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and an Adreno 3.5 GPU.

In the rear the S4 Active mini should have a 5-megapixel camera, with an additional 0.3-megapixel front-facing snapper.

Like the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active it should be able to withstand 30 minutes of being submerged up to depths of 1 metre.

These specs would make the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active mini less powerful than the Galaxy S4 mini, which would be a bit odd.

The Galaxy S4 mini has a smaller 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, but has a 1.7GHz dual-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM.

It has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.9-megapixel forward-facing option for video calling.

Powered by a 1,900mAh battery, the S4 mini runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with the latest Samsung TouchWiz UI overladen.

The specs for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active mini are a little scarce at the moment, as is any hint of a launch or official release date for the device.
