Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus revealed
Samsung has unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus, a modest revamp of the popular Samsung Galaxy S2 Android smartphone.
Back in August 2012, we reported on rumours that the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus might well be a radically overhauled handset with features such as a larger 4.5-inch display and a faster 1.5GHz CPU.
Now that the actual reveal of the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus has taken place, we can dispel those rumours once and for all.
Meet the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus, same as the old Samsung Galaxy S2.
Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus Specs
In truth it’s tricky to see how the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus earns its Plus. It’s got the same 4.3-inch WVGA (that’s an 800 x 480 resolution) Super Amoled Plus display as the original phone, which launched in May 2011.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus also runs on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor – the same basic spec as the original. Of course, this might be a newer and more capable processor than the Exynos chip that made it into the original, but Samsung hasn’t indicated either way.
This processor is backed by the same 1GHz of RAM as the original spec, too.
Event the camera appears to be the same 8-megapixel model that made its way in to the Samsung Galaxy S2 more than 18 months ago.
In fact, other than the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the only major difference with the phone is that it comes with only 8GB of internal storage. The Samsung Galaxy S2 started at 16GB.
More a case of the Samsung Galaxy S2 Minus, then, perhaps.
