Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.1 update confirmed
Amid the new release hype of CES 2013, Samsung has confirmed that it is keeping its older handsets in mind, with the Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.1 update bringing the latest Jelly Bean offering to the former iPhone 4S rival.
Although Samsung has confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.1 update is in the works, set to bring the now dated handset in line with its Samsung Galaxy S3 replacement, the South Korean tech giant has yet to reveal when Samsung Galaxy S2 users can expect the software overhaul.
Adding new life to the still popular 4.3-inch handset, the Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.1 update will see owners benefit from a raft of recent Android Jelly Bean additions, as well as a selection of Samsung-branded features the Apple and HTC rival is set to introduce to the device.
A sizeable download, the Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.1 update will cost users a hefty 1GB of storage space with the OS patch creating a new system partition within the device. With Samsung suggesting the update will take an hour to download, the patch will take on a strong Google theme with a selection of the Android creator’s own-branded software making the jump to the handset.
With Google Plus, Google Now and Google Play Books all set to be introduced to the Samsung Galaxy S3, the dual-core device will also benefit from Google Play Movies and Android Project Butter integration in the near future.
Making the most of the large scale software overhaul, Samsung will also see Samsung Galaxy S2 owners handed the company’s SmartStay feature, meaning that the screen stays active as long as you are looking at it. Further additions will see users able to pause recordings within the Camera app.
