Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 release date revealed alongside hefty price tag

Following the tablet’s MWC 2013 unveiling, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 release date has appeared online, with retails also suggesting the iPad mini rival will host a heft y price tag.

Building on the company’s hugely successful Note brand, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 sits comfortably between the smartphone of sorts Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the larger Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, pairing the middling 8-inch display with the now trademark S-Pen stylus capabilities.

Although Samsung has yet to offer any official details on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 release date and price, online retailer Expansys has hinted at the tablet’s upcoming arrival, allowing wannabe owners to pre-order the device in both its Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi plus 3G guises.

Whilst the 3G model has yet to be handed a price tag, according to the retailer’s site, the Wi-Fi only, 16GB storage capacity Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 price tag will see the device line up at a wallet bashing £349.99, a not inconsiderable £80 more than the similarly specced iPad mini, a move that would add a new, unexpected dimension to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 vs iPad mini rivalry.

Almost as much as an iPad 4 and more than twice as much as the Google Nexus 7, the claimed Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 price would surely see the tablet priced out of the market before it has even made it to high street shelves.

Adding to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 rumours, although failing to back up Expansys’ premium price predictions, Carphone Warehouse has also started accepting interest in the device, hinting at an April Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 release date in the process.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Specs
Going some way to meet the expectations of its seemingly ludicrous price point, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 specs sheet reads as a what’s what of high-end innards, with a 1.6GHz quad-core processor running the show alongside Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.

Despite playing host to just 16GB of internal storage, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 features list sees the tablet capable of supporting microSD card expansion up to 64GB, ample space to fully utilise the integrated 5-megapixel rear-mounted camera.

With an 8-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen hosting a 1280 x 800p resolution and full compatibility with the paired S-Pen stylus, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, which lines up at 8mm thick, 338g in weight and features a plastic construct, also benefits from 2GB of RAM and a second, 1.3-megapixel snapper up front.
