Samsung’s next big smartphone releases, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, have been certified by the FCC.
All phones must pass through the Federal Communications Commission before being released on US market. Such certification, then, is as close to official confirmation of the device as you can get before launch day.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has been approved by the FCC under the SM-N920V model number, while the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (expected to be essentially a super-sized Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge) has appeared under the SM-N920A model number.
Of course, as GForGames points out, FCC certification can also offer a clue as to the potential release date of a smartphone. You see, a full release tends to follow news of FCC certification in short order, often within a month.
As such, the appearance of the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus here could suggest that they will indeed be released earlier than in previous years.

Last week it was claimed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release would be brought forward from its usual September launch slot, and would be unveiled in August instead. The presumed reasoning behind this would be to pre-empt the launch of Apple’s iPhone 6S Plus.
