Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumoured with 5.9-inch display

A Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release looks to be on the cards with latest rumours suggesting the third-generation stylus hosting ‘phablet’ device will line up with a 5.9-inch display.

Building on the 5.5-inch foundation of the hugely popular Samsung Galaxy Note 2, already an increase on the 5.3-inch original model, latest reports have suggested the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will see a further rise in screen size, jumping to a less pocketable 5.9-inches.

“Samsung is working on introducing a new phablet using a 5.9-inch organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen,” unnamed officials reportedly told the Korean times.

Reportedly set to land “in the latter half of the year,” the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumours have emerged just days before the official Samsung Galaxy S4 launch event is expected to see the eagerly awaited handset formally unveiled in New York City. It is widely believed that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be the first eight-core smartphone to hit the market.

Citing the unnamed Samsung executive, the latest Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumours have suggested that the reportedly 5.9-inch device will follow the S4 in playing host to an eight-core CPU.

“The new handset will be powered by the in-house Exynos octa-core chipset to meet consumer demand for faster data processing and download speeds,” the insider reportedly revealed. ”Even if these kinds of sizes ― from 5-inch to 6-inch ― are stretching the limits of traditional pockets, well-made phablets using bezel-less technology have been warmly received. Users prefer bigger phones and they use them more often. Samsung will be more focused on larger phones.”

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Rumours
Far from the first time reports of a larger Samsung Galaxy Note 3 screen have done the rounds, a number of previous reports have tipped the third-generation to play host to an even larger 6.3-inch screen, a jump that would truly see the handset blur the lines between smartphone and tablet.

“Samsung plans to use the Octa core processor in the upcoming 6.3-inch Galaxy Note 3, which will debut later this year,” previous reports have suggested.

Is 5.9-inch too big for a workable smartphone offering even if it does make use of stylus technology? Let us know your thoughts on the matter via the TrustedReviews Twitter and Facebook feeds or through the comment boxes below.
