Samsung Galaxy A8 with fingerprint sensor tipped for Europe launch
New details about the Samsung Galaxy A8 have seemingly leaked, suggesting the device might carry an integrated fingerprint sensor.
SamMobile claims it has obtained exclusive information, courtesy of unnamed insiders, that the mid-range smartphone will ship with the high-end biometric feature.
It’s not clear where the fingerprint scanner will be positioned, but it’s likely to land within the home button like previous Samsung smartphones – the Galaxy S6, for instance.
The report also purports that we’ll see the as-yet-unannounced handset launch in both Europe and Asia, despite being previously tipped for a China-only release.
We first heard about the Samsung Galaxy A8 two months ago, when it was reported that Samsung had applied for trademarks for the Galaxy A6, A8, and A9.
One month later, a second leak revealed a raft of claimed specs for the upcoming handset.
The device will allegedly be the first non-flagship Galaxy smartphone to carry a 16-megapixel rear camera.
We’re also expecting a 5.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, a super-svelte 5.9mm metal frame, and an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 615 chip.
Rumours also point to 2GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB of built-in storage, 4G/LTE support, a 3,050mAh battery, and Android 5.0 Lollipop.

That all sounds decidedly flagship, which fits with Samsung’s new super mid-range efforts with the Galaxy A-series.
Unfortunately, there’s still no word on a release date for the Samsung Galaxy A8.
Smartphones using the February-launched Snapdragon 615 are now trickling out, however, so we’d say a pre-Christmas release is very likely.
