Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3 now available to buy in UK

O2 has announced it is selling both the Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3 in store and online starting today.

The devices were officially announced as part of Samsung’s A-series last October, but have only now landed in UK stores.

The Samsung Galaxy A3 is a low-end handset, shipping with a 4.5-inch display and a not-so-sharp qHD resolution.

The device is 6.9mm thick, and rocks an 8-megapixel camera. Inside is a quad-core 1.2GHz chip, which comes paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

If you’re planning to buy the A3 before February 25, you can get a £15 per month deal that offers 100 minutes, unlimited texts, and 100MB of data, plus a £49.99 upfront fee.

You can also lump on an extra £5 per month to up the data to 500MB.

The A3 comes in a range of hues, namely Midnight Black, Pearl White, and Platinum Silver, the latter of which is exclusive to O2 at launch.

Samsung’s Galaxy A5 is a slightly more premium bit of kit, instead making use of a 5-inch 720p super AMOLED display.

It’s also slightly thinner than its low-end sibling at 6.7mm thick, and uses a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera sensor.

The A5 has the same quad-core 1.2GHz chip, although it doubles down on memory with a 2GB RAM module, plus 16GB of built-in storage.

Both devices use a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, which signals a continuing effort from Samsung to get its selfie game on point.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 can be bought before February 25 for a one-off cost of £39.99, followed by £23 per month. This gets you 500 minutes, unlimited texts, and 500MB of data. You can upgrade this to 2GB of data for an extra fiver a month.

The A5 is available in Midnight Black and Pearl White.

The two handsets will also be available on O2’s Refresh tariff, which lets customers pay off the remaining value of their handset to upgrade, rather than paying off the remaining contract air-time too.
