Samsung’s next Galaxy A5 could feature an Infinity Display when it launches early 2018

Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy A5 smartphone is potentially set to make its debut early 2018, with the handset rumoured to come sporting the Infinity Display.

Filling the mid-range section of the Galaxy mobile line up, the Galaxy A5 from 2017 received a very positive reception from us, thanks to its good design and vivid screen. Now its predecessor plans on building upon that success, if the latest batch of rumours floating around Twitter and the internet are to be believed.

A render of cases for the Galaxy A5 was tweeted by gadget info leaker ‘zyadatef’, which show a design that would strongly suggest that the Galaxy A5 will have the Infinity Display seen with the higher-end Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 handsets.

Now such renders need to be taken with a pinch of salt and so far the Samsung’s Infinity Display design and tech seems to be limited to its expensive flagship phones. However, the Infinity Display is one of the best features of Samsung’s high-end handsets, so it would not be surprising if it tried to bring the screen to its mid-tier phones.

And Samsung has a strong reputation in producing phones with excellent displays, so there’s a chance the South Korean tech giant could find a way of putting its fancy display tech into the Galaxy A5 without seeing the handset’s price skyrocket.

Other rumours suggest the 2018 Galaxy A5 will have an Exynos 7885 system-on-a-chip and 4GB of RAM, with storage weighing in at 32GB. Somewhat disappointing are the predictions that the phone will be running Android 7.1.1 Nougat not the latest Android 8.0 Oreo.

We’ll have to wait a little longer to see if these rumours and renders bear fruit, but come the start of 2018 we expect to see a fresh Galaxy A5 ready to do battle in the mobile arena.
