Ahead of CES 2013, Samsung has confirmed that it will use the Las Vegas based convention to showcase the world’s largest commercial Ultra HD LCD TV with an 85-inch UHD monster on the cards.
Offering “life-like” picture quality, what Samsung is describing as “the world’s largest commercialised UHD LED TV” will be shown off at the world’s largest tech convention which will descend on Sin City between January 7 and January 11.
The 4K compatible television, which is already the recipient of a Best of Innovation award, is set to provide Ultra HD picture with more than 8 million pixels creating an image four times the resolution of existing 1080p Full HD displays.
“Samsung’s UHD TV uses an innovative enhanced dimming technology and a very high contrast ratio to deliver deep, real blacks and pure whites for greater detail and unmatched picture clarity,” an official Samsung spokesperson said whilst confirming the device’s upcoming appearance at CES 2013. They added: “This new, cutting-edge TV also offers a powerful and dynamic range of sounds.”
A direct rival to LG’s 4K LG 84LM960V TV, a device that will receive its UK release date later this month at the Gadget Show Live @Christmas, Samsung’s 85-inch UHD offering has yet to be handed a price tag but is expected to line up with a price point near to the £15,000 extravagance of the LG model.
Despite brandishing the tagline of “the world’s largest commercialised UHD LED TV”, the 85-inch Samsung 4K TV is expected to face renewed competition for this crown at CES 2013. Already dwarfed by rival models, Samsung’s 84-inch offering is considerably smaller than the non-commercial 152-inch Panasonic 4K TV unveiled at last year’s CES gathering.
