Samsung Announces A400, A800 & A900 DLP Projectors

Three new HD projectors join Samsung's line-up.

Samsung has added a trio of new high definition projectors to its arsenal. Two, the A800 and A900 offer Full HD, 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolutions with the third, the A400, is a lesser, only 720p-capable, 1,280 x 768 pixel device.

All three are DLP projectors, with contrast ratios of 2,500:1, 10,000:1 and 12,000:1 for the A400, A800 and A900 respectively; all of which produce 1000 ANSI lumens. The A800 boasts a Dark Chip 2 DLP chip and I’m struggling to see exactly what differentiates it from last year’s A800B.

The A900 is less puzzling, demonstrating its new-ness with a Dark Chip 4 DLP chip as sported by the excellent Sim2 CX3 which should mean great image quality. Connectivity for all three stands at a pair each of HDMI and Component inputs, a VGA port, an S-Video connector and an RS-232 serial jack for connecting to a control system.

UK pricing is a mystery as yet, as are dates of availability.
