RUMOUR: Bungie introducing Destiny ammo pack micro-transactions
UPDATE: Rest easy, Destiny fans. Publisher Activision has been in touch with TrustedReviews to assure it will not be adding ammo pack micro transactions to the game. In an emailed statement, a spokesperson wrote: “We’re not doing that.”
Original story is below…
According to a new rumour, Bungie may be about to introduce ammo pack micro-transactions to Destiny.
Bungie is apparently putting together plans to add in micro-transactions for ammo packs in its online shooter, Destiny.
The report states that ammo packs will be sold for Silver – the in-game currency that you need to buy with real world money.
“Bungie is to sell Destiny ammo packs for real money,” according to a ‘source familiar with the matter’ speaking to VG247.
It is as yet unknown as to when the micro-transactions for ammo packs will be added to theg ame, if it is confirmed to be true.

Currently, the only content available for purchase using Silver in Destiny are emotes and Sparrow items from the Eververse vendor in the Tower.
Adding in micro-transactions for ammo packs will have a direct affect on gameplay (albeit in limited ways), which may well signify a major change in the way Activision and Bungie approach in-game payments in the future.
For example, there’s currently only three ways to acquire Heavy packs: buy them from the Tower gunsmith; the exotic vendor Xur sells back of three for one Strange Coin; while Variks sells them for 250 Glimmer and a pack of Ether Seeds.
Adding specific micro-transactions for the Heavy ammo packs in particular would then avoid you having to spend time in-game to raid for the resources required.
There’s no information in the report as to how much such ammo packs would cost.
However, here’s the current cost of Silver:
500 Silver – £3.99
1000 Silver – £7.99
2000 Silver – £15.99
5000 Silver – £39.99
