The World Cup opening ceremony was a fairly lacklustre affair, but was there was at least one highlight – Robbie Williams casually giving the middle finger to millions of TV viewers worldwide.
At first, we thought the still images being shared on Twitter were likely a very clever Photoshop job.

Then we saw the video clips, and there was little doubt – Robbie totally gave the middle finger to the cameras, the 80,000-odd fans at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, and the crazy amount of people watching on TV around the world.
I mean, admittedly, a couple of these blokes look like someone just ran over their pet rabbit, but you still have to ask: why, Robbie? (The outspoken Brit will no doubt tell all when he’s interviewed for his next tabloid splash).

OK, it does make him kind of a legend – at least it gives us something to talk about during the opening Russia vs Saudi Arabia match, which is pretty much guaranteed to be a snorefest.
