Ring Video Doorbell falls below $100 for first time on Black Friday US

Black Friday is the perfect time to smarten up your home. We’ve already seen a killer deal on Philips Hue lights today and now your dumb old doorbell is in line for the scrapheap.

Amazon US is offering the original Ring Video Doorbell for $99.99, which is a saving of $80 on the list price of $179.

The Wi-Fi enabled doorbell is available in Satin Nickel and Venetian Blonde. Other variants are still regular price.

The 1st-gen Ring enables users to see, hear and speak to anyone who arrives on their doorstep via phone, tablet or desktop.

There’s HD video, night vision and two way audio, while users can access a live stream of the doorstep at any time.

When there’s a ring of the doorbell or motion detected on the doorstep, users will get an instant push notification on their smartphone, enabling easy communication.

The idea is to be able to communicate with delivery drivers and visitors whether you’re at home or not at home. It can also be used as a deterrent to would-be intruders, as Ring showcases in an hilarious recent ad campaign.

The doorbell comes with a rechargeable battery, lifetime purchase protection and is weather resistant.

Amazon’s sale product isn’t the newest Ring doorbell, the second edition is priced at $189.
