Resident Evil 7 is coming to Nintendo Switch, but with a pretty big catch
Capcom has announced that survival horror hit Resident Evil 7 is coming to the hybrid console, although not in the traditional form.
Nintendo Switch owners hoping to play the game when it launches in Japan on May 25 will have to stream it via a cloud-based service.
Players will need to download a small, 45MB file before streaming it directly from Capcom. The means of purchase are different too, with a 180-day pass available for 2000 yen (roughly £14).
There is currently no word on a western release for Resident Evil 7 on Nintendo Switch, or if we’ll see a similar streaming mode of playing introduced.

This seems like a unique way of superseding the technical limitations of Nintendo Switch to allow for the more demanding titles available on PS4 and Xbox One.
However, it also negates the platform’s most appealing factor of playing any and all games both in docked and portable mode.
Perhaps we’ll see Nintendo shine a more comprehensive light on this feature at E3 2018 alongside the likes of Super Smash Bros and Metroid Prime 4.
Despite its potential flaws, it seems like an interesting idea for players who aren’t against streaming a library of titles while sacrificing portability.
