Resident Evil 7 HDR and 4K support confirmed for PS4 Pro
Capcom has confirmed that upcoming survival horror title Resident Evil 7 will have 4K and HDR support on PS4 Pro when it launches in January 2017.
Announced at Tokyo Games Show this year, HDR support will also be coming to standard PS4 models and the PS4 Slim via today’s 4.0 firmware update.
It is still unclear whether Resi 7 will support native 4K or upscaling through Sony’s ‘checkerboard rendering’ technique, although our money is on the latter.
Either way, this is a great sign that third-party studios are eager to support Sony’s new console, despite its lukewarm reception last week.
PS4 Pro is a more powerful version of the original PS4 that will support 4K upscaling and HDR, and it’s set to release on November 10.
