Report: Microsoft Surface Pro 4, Band 2, new Lumias coming October

It’s abundantly clear that 2015 is a huge year for Microsoft software, but hardware has been sorely missed.
Fortunately, Microsoft is plotting a huge hardware launch event for October 2015.
That’s according to new information from the The Verge, which cites “sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans”.
There’ll be plenty of devices on offer at the event, landing in an otherwise hardware-lacking year.
For a start, it’s reported that we’ll see two new Lumia handsets – perhaps the oft-rumoured Lumia 950 and 950 XL – although we don’t have specifics for either device yet.
There have been several reports recently of a “Windows Surface” powerhouse flagship being in the works, but it’s not clear if such a device will launch at the October event.
It’s also claimed that we’ll finally see the Surface Pro 4, following on from last year’s Surface Pro 3 and this year’s Surface 3.
What’s more, the Microsoft Band 2 has been tipped for an unveiling. That’s the sequel to the company’s fledgling fitness tracker.
Chinese site WPDang also claims that we’ll see a scaled-down Xbox One ‘Mini’ at the event, but we can’t say for sure whether this rumour will come to fruition.
Since this is purported to be a large event, there’s a good chance we’ll see other bits of hardware launching too, aside from the aforementioned device.
For instance, there have also been rumours of a Surface Mini tablet, which could soon see the light of day.

We’ve been expecting a horde of devices from Microsoft this autumn for a while now.
That’s because Microsoft just launched Windows 10, and is set to release Windows 10 Mobile in autumn.
Both platforms need launch vehicles, and Microsoft now looks set to deliver come October.
Microsoft has yet to officially confirm any press events for October, so we’ll have to take this report with a pinch of salt for now.
