Received a weird notification on your Samsung phone? Here’s what’s going on
Did you receive a notification on your Samsung phone that simply read “1”? Yes? Everyone else did too, but don’t worry.
The push notification offered no context, but was to sent to Samsung Galaxy phones all around the world this week. There’s no cause for concern though. The notification was apparently mistakenly sent by the Find My Phone app. Weird.

Some users were unnerved, but tapping the notification simply made it disappear, with no further consequences.
Because of its origins in the Find My Phone app, some users were worried that the notification had something to do with their location data, or other data, being compromised. The app has the ability to remotely erase all of your data, in-case your phone is stolen.
The leading theory was that the push notification was part of a test and, Samsung has now confirmed as much.
“This notification was confirmed as a message sent unintentionally during internal test and there is no effect on your device. Samsung apologises for any inconvenience this may have caused to our customers and will work to prevent similar cases from occurring in the future,” the company has said.
Take a look at the reaction of Samsung users on social media below. One asked “Did all our phones just get hacked?” Others managed to keep a little calmer.
In more positive news for Samsung, the launch of its S20 line of phones seems to have gone down well.
When we got our hands on the S20 we were pretty impressed.
Our reviewer, Max Parker, wrote: “While the focus is clearly on the Galaxy S20 Ultra, the S20 is a strong update to one of the most popular Android phones on the market. There are welcome upgrades in all the right places, especially to the camera, but without a hike to the starting price.”
