Real Xbox 360 Shots (Maybe, Just Maybe?)

Could the latest in the "It's-For-Real-Honest!" series of pics turn out be genuine? Well, lets hope so. At least they look better than the last lot...

Xbox 360 photo “leaks”, don’t you just hate em? They are almost inevitably wrong and stupid but, like Santa Claus, the magic is gone when you stop wanting to believe.

With this in mind and the ””this really, really, really ”’IS”’ it”” hubbub surrounding these latest shots, we’ll indulge ourselves one last time.

Certainly, the pictures suit what we have heard about the console so far: a “sucked-in” look, no visible front controller ports (they are round the side as it supports wireless natively), twin memory slots and the “hood” (below) which apparently conceals a removable hard drive (40GB in the pic) at the rear left hand of the console. It also looks to be a pretty diddy machine when you consider the dimensions in proportion to the DVD tray.

So far Microsoft has refused to comment on the photos, but this is not as encouraging as it sounds since the Redmond giant refuses to utter a word on (almost) anything it doesn’t specifically put in a press release.

Still, we can be hopeful and at least it looks like that ridiculous white Xbox rumour is untrue. I have to say, hats off as well to Microsoft for keeping its machine unwraps for so long. After all, it is just a couple of weeks until the Xbox 360 is unveiled to the world live on MTV. North America will see it on 12 May, we Brits get it a day later (for no good reason I can see) on the 13th.

On a separate note, if portable gaming is more your thing you’ll be as depressed as me to hear that Sony has officially confirmed its stunning PSP will not ship in the UK until 1 September. Quite frankly, this is beyond taking the pi$$, since Riyad imported (and reviewed) his own PSP at the turn of the year. Being Sony (and unlike stocks and shares): release dates may slip back too, but never go forward.

My advice: get thyself over to Lik Sang quick smart, pass over £135 and bypass the whole dirty mess.
