The Razer Nabu smartband will go on sale in the North America on December 2, almost a full year after it was first unveiled.
The attractive wearable, which was an award-winning announcement at the CES tech show in January 2014, is compatible with the iOS (5 and up) and Android (4.3 and above) devices.
With a sleek, streamlined design it offers notifications for incoming calls, texts, emails and other app alerts, while it allows users to choose which alerts they receive via the Nabu Utility app.
Razer has always touted the discreet nature of the device with wearers alerted by a vibration and then able to turn the Nabu to the inside of their wrist in order to read the notification on the Private message OLED screen.
It also plays nice with Apple’s new iOS 8 Health app and syncs to iOS and Android handsets via Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy. There’s also a band-to-band communication capability, creating the world’s first social wearable.
The wearable promises to be the total package when it goes on sale from the RazerStore in North America on Tuesday for $99.99 (around £62) as it has been subject to a lengthy beta testing period, during which hardcore fans have been able to get in on the action.
“The Razer Nabu has undergone extensive consumer and developer testing, all of which is providing feedback toward the final retail-ready device,” said Min-Liang Tan, co-founder and CEO, Razer.
“This has ensured that with all the features polished—discreet notifications, fitness tracking, social capabilities and more—the Razer Nabu is a device that has something cool in-store for everyone.”
The Nabu arrives to take on wearables like the Microsoft Band and Garmin Vivofit and smartwatches from the Android Wear stable.
