Quantum Break gameplay trailer released with dev commentary
Remedy Entertainment has released a Quantum Break gameplay trailer complete with developer commentary.
Originally, the trailer was only released in Japanese, but now the developer has provided us with an English-language version of the trailer.
The video itself packs over 16-minutes of gameplay footage running on the Xbox One.
For the first time, the walkthrough demo shows off “Quantum Break’s time amplified action gameplay, as well as the unreleased adventuring gameplay inside a stutter in time.”
The demonstration footage includes commentary from Remedy Entertainment Creative Director Sam Lake, who outlines some of the game’s storyline and character details.
Our hero, Jack Joyce, is given with time manipulation powers after a science experiment goes wrong and he is caught in the blast. The experiment also caused his best friend to go missing – Paul Serene.
However, Serene emerges from the time machine 17 years older and as the ruthless head of the super corporation Monarch. Thus the story sees “best friends turned mortal enemies”.
Joyce must use his abilities to manipulate time to outfox his enemies: dashing through time to make himself a confusing blur, or even stopping bullets and then releasing them for maximum impact.
When enemies lose track of Joyce, it mixes up the combat for what Lake calls “cat and mouse gameplay”.
“In Quantum Break time is stuttering and breaking down entirely. To the world at large this crisis is hidden. When time stops, everybody freezes, but Jack’s powers let him function within the stutter. Jack cannot control the stutters but he must navigate through their dangers to survive.”
