Qualcomm, EE, and Huawei Cat 9 LTE test speeds hit 410Mbps
Qualcomm, EE, and Huawei have managed to successfully test Category 9 LTE data transfer, hitting speeds of up to 410Mbps.
The trials made use of Qualcomm’s fast-approaching Snapdragon 810 processor, which is set to debut in 2015.
Enrico Salvatori, Senior VP and President Qualcomm Europe, said: “We are excited to work with EE and Huawei in
“Transitioning from Category 6 to Category 9 LTE-A connectivity will mean 1.5x faster peak download speeds, swift application response times, reliable connectivity and connections to the fastest networks.”
It was recently revealed that the Snapdragon 810 would have a built-in LTE-A next-gen modem that would support Cat. 9 carrier aggregation.

This was paired with Huawei’s infrastructure and EE’s LTE-A 4G+ network, which launched in London just two months ago.
This type of aggregation let EE combine 20MHz of 1800MHz spectrum with 20MHz of 2.6GHz spectrum, along with a third carrier of 15MHz of 2.6GHz spectrum.
Tom Bennett, EE’s Director of Network Services and Devices, said: “Working closely with the excellent teams at Qualcomm Technologies and Huawei on the next generation LTE Category 9 connectivity enables us to make full use of our spectrum holdings, and continue to offer world class network capabilities, innovating to stay one step ahead of operators in Europe.”
He added: “Use of our remaining 15MHz of 2.6GHz spectrum enables both our fastest speeds and an increase in capacity across our network and
