Quad-core LG X3 Coming Next Month

Quad-core is the name of the game in smartphones in 2012 it seems with HTC, Samsung and now LG all promising to launch Tegra 3-powered handsets in the coming months.

With a decided dearth of high-profile smartphones for anything but the US market launching at CES earlier this month, we expect to see at least three flagship quad-core devices at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the end of February.

The HTC Edge/Endeavour is almost certainty to be on show with the Samsung Galaxy S III a possibility. And now the LG X3 has emerged from cover promising to be the South Korean company’s flagship phone for 2012.

According to a leaked image and details given to PocketNow, the LG X3 will come with a 4.7in HD screen with a resolution of 1280×720. It will come with a slim profile of sub 9mm, which is impressive considering the quad-core Tegra 3 processor sitting inside.

The X3 will come with an eight megapixel camera on the rear and a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front. Storage will be limited to 16GB but this will be expandable via a microSD card slot.

Another major disappointment at CES was the lack of phones running Android 4.0, but the X3 should be among the phones to remedy this at MWC. It will come with Wi-Fi b/g/n. Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and a 2000mAh battery.

The X3 should go on show in Barcelona next month but it won’t be available to purchase until the middle of the year.
