PUBG aiming to launch on “every platform” out there, says CEO

PUBG Corp CEO Chang Han Kim has said the company hopes to launch the hugely popular Battle Royale shooter on “every platform.”

Speaking to InvenGlobal, Kim said his aim is for PUBG to become a “universal media franchise” that encompasses not only games, but also film and television.

The interview also mentioned future plans for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on PS4, with the game currently available on PC and Xbox One.

“If we have the opportunity, the final goal would be to launch the title on every platform,” he said.

It’s interesting to note that not only could this include PS4, but Nintendo Switch alongside it. However, we definitely can’t see it running well on such a platform at this point.

Since launching in March 2017 as an early access title, PUBG has sold over 26 million copies. Version 1.0 released in December 2017 alongside the Xbox One iteration and Miramar, the new desert map.

While we’ve yet to throw a solid score on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, here’s what we had to say in our recent review of the Xbox One release:

“Bluehole and Microsoft have some serious work to do if they want to bring the Xbox One PUBG up to scratch. I hope they do it, because at its best this is still one of the most thrilling and tactical multiplayer games around – and it deserves to be as big on console as it is on PC.”
