Sony has announced PS4 sales are now at 35.9 million, following a successful Christmas season.
Although Microsoft has given up offering out sales figures on the Xbox One, Sony is shouting PS4 figures loud and proud.
The PS4 has now now cumulatively sold through more than 35.9 million units across the world, which is quite the impressive figure for just over two years of life.
That’s helped by over 5.7 million PS4 consoles sold over the Christmas season, which runs from November 22, 2015 to January 3, 2016.
Sony also revealed that there was a surge in PlayStation Plus adoption at the end of 2015, with 60% more subscribers than for the same period in 2014.

Microsoft offered the final Xbox One sales figure it was willing to divulge back in November 2014, when the figure stood at 10 million. As of October 2015, the company has confirmed it would no longer report hardware sales numbers publicly.
“We are absolutely delighted that so many customers have selected PS4 as the best place to play throughout this holiday season and that the PS4 community is growing more than ever,” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver innovative entertainment experiences, and look forward to bringing an unprecedented games portfolio from third party developers and publishers and SCE Worldwide Studios, including Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Horizon Zero Dawn and The Last Guardian, coming this year.”
