PS4 sales continue to outsell Xbox One despite Titanfall spike

Despite Microsoft’s console being boosted by the arrival of Titanfall, latest figures have revealed that the PS4 continues to outsell the Xbox One.

Having consistently been the best-selling console since both next-gen devices launched last November, sales reports for February have shown that, in the US, despite the Xbox One closing the gap, the PS4 remains the console of choice for many.

Despite Microsoft claiming that the Xbox One “continues selling at a record-breaking pace,” the 258,000 reported US console sales for February is still short of the approximately 286,000 PS4 sales during the same period.

Although hard to be certain, it is widely believed that the rising Xbox One sales were boosted by the Titanfall release which saw the eagerly awaited FPS title hit the US on Tuesday and UK retailers today, March 14.

While the Xbox One and PS4 continue to dominate console sales, the now superseded Xbox 360 remains the third most popular gamer shifting 114,000 units last month.

Nintendo saw its fortunes take a slightly upwards turn during February, with Wii U sales increasing 25 per cent to around 82,000 units.

Earlier this month Sony confirmed that global PS4 sales have already topped 6 million units despite the manufacturer struggling to keep up with demand.
