PS4 Remote Play app for PC and Mac officially in the works
Sony has confirmed that it is working on PS4 Remote Play functionality for PC and Mac.
Remote Play is a a great feature of the PS4 console, enabling you to play your favourite games even when the TV is tied up by beaming them to a second screen over your Wi-Fi network.
It’s a particularly useful feature as the holiday period nears. And Fallout 4 isn’t going to complete itself, right?
The main trouble with Remote Play is that relatively few PS4 owners have actually been able to use it. This is because it requires either a PS Vita handheld or a Sony Xperia smartphone to work.
Let’s be honest – neither of those product ranges has exactly been popular in recent years, regardless of quality.
Sony has supplied some exciting news on that front. Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios, tweeted the following recently:
“Some people asked if we plan to provide Remote Play function to PC, and yes, we are indeed working on an official application for PC/Mac. :D”

Yep, soon we’ll be able to beam PS4 games to our PCs and Macs. In one fell swoop that will enable just about every PS4 owner in the world to make use of Remote Play.
Microsoft already offers a similar feature for Xbox One, of course, but it’s only compatible with Windows 10. If any Mac users are on the fence about which console to choose, this could be the deciding factor.
There’s no news on when this new Remote Play app will arrive, but we’re just glad to know it exists at this point.
