PS4 price slashed to £279, comes bundled with Witcher 3

New PS4 price cuts continue to surface, with Sony now offering its latest console for just £279.

Further sweetening this already sugary deal, those snapping up the cut-price console will see their new gaming wares come bundled with a copy of the eagerly awaited RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The deal – which is a pre-order promotion – is available when ordering the gaming bundle through Tesco’s online store.

With a standard, £319 price, the savings are implemented when the e-coupon code ‘TDX-KNWT’ is used at checkout.

If you’re looking to make use of the latest PS4 promotion, you’ll have to act fast. The deal runs until next Monday, May 18, the day ahead of The Witcher’s formal UK release.

Despite a number of promotions having bought the console’s cost down £70 over the past 18 months, the PS4 has, officially at least, retained its day one £349 RRP.

Speaking to MCV today, PlayStation UK boss, Fergal Gara suggested it is important for Sony to avoid entering an ever-lowing pricing battle with bitter rival Microsoft and the Xbox One.

Any price war in any sector in any market can be dangerous. If there is a race to zero, who wins from that?” he said.

“We are proud that we managed to launch at a very competitive price, and demand has held up very strongly for PS4.

He added: “Our RRP on day one is our RRP today. Yes, there are promotions that offer consumers better value from time-to-time, but it’s great that we managed to start at such a great price and it has held well.”
